In March 2003, when she flew down to Baja California Sur for a site visit at the Villages of Loreto Bay, a residential community in Mexico, Jeanette Amen said she was instantly "Loreto-ized."
"That's what they call it when you lay eyes on this place for the first time," she said. "It's magical."
By June, Amen, who has been a real estate agent in San Diego for 18 years and currently works in the La Jolla office of Prudential California Realty, owned property in the village of Loreto Bay, a $3 billion beachfront community 700 miles south of San Diego on the Sea of Cortez. She has also become a sales agent for the developer.
