The bbc has been urged to scrap Top Gear because of claims that it promotes dangerous driving and cars that harm the environment.

Campaign group Transport 2000 says Top Gear should be replaced with a programme called Third Gear, about 'sensible driving in sensible vehicles'.

It has attacked presenter Jeremy Clarkson, saying the BBC is in danger of encouraging a 'yobbish' attitude on the road by employing him.
