How did anglers in Grandpa's day ever manage without polarized sunglasses?
"They didn't," said Mike DeTomaso. "They frequently got headaches when they were fishing, and they stumbled and fell down a lot, too."
DeTomaso, who manages the White River fly-fishing tackle department at the Bass Pro Shops store in Auburn, said the wide variety of polarized lenses now available to anglers serve three primary purposes:
They protect eyes from ultraviolet light and glare, which can lead to cataracts and retinal damage, in addition to temporary headaches.
