A NEW vaccine could bring hope to Britain's 12 million cat allergy sufferers.
Pets are a major cause of allergy in the home - figures show 50 per cent of children in the UK who have asthma are allergic to cats.
'Cat allergen can stay around for years,' said Muriel Simmons, chief executive of the charity Allergy UK.'If, for example, you're allergic and moving into a house where a cat lived, you have a major problem. We recently tested new carpets straight out of the warehouse and were amazed to find they all had cat allergen on them. No one could explain it.'
