The last time jazz icon Dave Holland came to town, he brought his quintet to the Shedd for a 2003 show.
This time, Holland's entourage has expanded, from his Grammy-nominated quintet to his Grammy-winning big band.
With a new album called "Overtime," Holland's 13-member big band is hitting the road for string of dates in places as diverse as Yoshi's in Oakland, Calif., the Shedd in Eugene and Birdland in New York City.
The British bass player said the big band's work is inspired by the music of his heroes, such as Duke Ellington.
