PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- IKEA, the world's leading home furnishings retailer, today expressed appreciation to the Canton Township [MI] Board of Trustees who last night approved final plans for the future IKEA Canton. The Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA), respectively on Monday and Wednesday nights last week, already had approved plans for the first IKEA store in the Greater Detroit Metro area and all of Michigan.
Pending remaining permits, IKEA could begin construction in June, with a grand opening in summer 2006. Approximately 300 coworkers will join the IKEA family when the new store opens.
