CHICAGO-This year it's beer.
Americans prefer their brews cold, and refrigeration vendors are catering to their tastes.
Compact coolers to hold dozens of cans or bottles, some with dispenser racks for cans, have been a staple of the business for years. Numerous refrigerators are specifically designed and promoted as beverage centers, such as Avanti's Little Tavern.
A few suppliers have included a keg tapper or two in their lines. Compared with the boom in wine refrigeration in the past four or five years, beer coolers total a finite number of SKUs. But there's agreement that market is growing.
