Generations of children have been entranced by stories of dogs using their intelligence to save the lives of people or other animals. There's something endearing about the idea of a faithful dog like Lassie, who can't speak or write, being able to raise the alarm when something has gone wrong.
And that's exactly what one quick-thinking labrador did on Anglesey this week, when her companion for the last 11 years disappeared while out for walkies.
