Human papillomavirus (HPV) is among the most common sexually transmitted infections in the United States. (1) It has been estimated that approximately 1% of sexually active adults in the United States have visible external genital warts (EGW) and that at least 15% have molecular evidence of genital HPV infection. The highest rates of HPV infection are found in adults aged 18 to 28 years.
