ON MARCH 17, A BANKruptcy judge approved the sale of the last pieces of Meyer's Bakeries Inc. of Hope, ending the 94-year history of a pioneering company that started to crumble after it was sold to a New York investment firm in 1999.

Four of the company's former vice presidents blamed the collapse of Meyer's Bakeries on Ripplewood Partners LP's management, which they said ruined the family-owned business that introduced the brown-and-serve rolls that became a staple of American dinner tables.
