Colette Finley has been on the lacrosse team at Visitation since it started four years ago. This is the first year the girls will compete as a varsity team in play sanctioned by the Minnesota State High School League. The senior co-captain is excited but also a little apprehensive.
"I'm not going to lie," she said. "I'm nervous that we are switching leagues, but I think it'll be good for our team to keep challenging us and become better."
Visitation is one of the three new varsity lacrosse teams that joined the High School League this year. Another south-of-the-river school, Prior Lake, became a varsity program in 2001.
