In a tense and highly unusual scene in federal court Thursday, former Katun Corp. executive Raymond Wirtz used the occasion of his sentencing on a mail-fraud conviction to accuse the prosecution of putting its quest for extraordinary restitution in Katun cases above justice.
"It isn't about right and wrong for the government," he said, "it's about money. If a citizen did it, he'd go to jail for extortion."
