ATK (Alliant Techsystems) has received new contracts in excess of $38 million from the U.S. Army's Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) at the Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. Under the contracts, ATK will provide 120mm tactical ammunition for the Army's M1A1/A2 Abrams main battle tanks. Deliveries will be completed by November 2005. The Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunition Systems, manages the contract for the Army and Marine Corps.

The awards are for kinetic energy and multipurpose combat ammunition rounds. These rounds use advanced composite sabot technology, advanced warheads, and improved propulsion designs to increase range and ...
