Great Lakes Chemical Corporation today announced it will raise prices for elemental bromine by an average of 20 percent in North America, effective immediately for all shipments, or where contracts allow; bromine derivatives prices will increase accordingly. The price increase does not apply to bromine-based flame retardants.

The company stated that the new pricing is necessary to help offset increased raw material, transportation, and energy costs that continue to impact the overall economics of bromine and bromine derivatives production.
