Most streams in Central New York have dropped and cleared and are providing decent fishing. Although small worms and minnows are working best, some fly fishers are doing okay with artificial nymphs, too. Mid-day is the best time to be out.
Catskill Rivers
The Beaverkill and Willowemoc Creek have receded to a fishable level and hatches of small blue-winged olive mayflies are reported.
Oneida Lake
Finally the ice is gone and a good run of bullheads should be starting any time now. Fish with worms at creek mouths or in shallow bays.
