Executives and representatives of Gyrodyne Company of America have unveiled a $220 million proposal that would recycle an aging 314 acre industrial complex, protect the environment and enhance the value of the neighboring residential homes by creating an upscale multimillion dollar residential golf course community on its property.
In presenting its proposal to members of the Smithtown Planning Board, Gyrodyne representatives stated that their plan would allow them to conform to the existing character of the surrounding community which is predominantly upscale residential and open space.
