CKE Restaurants, Inc. , owner, operator, and franchisor of the Carl's Jr.(R), Hardee's(R) and La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill(R) restaurant brands, today announced the sale of all company-operated Carl's Jr. restaurants in the Tucson, Arizona area. Phoenix-based Carl's Jr. franchisee, MJKL Enterprises, LLC (MJKL), acquired the 15 restaurants for approximately $6 million. The transaction, which closed on January 12, 2004, included the underlying real estate for six of the 15 restaurants sold. The sale of these restaurants is not expected to have a material impact on future earnings for CKE at the Carl's Jr. operating unit or on a consolidated basis.
