Standard & Poor's Ratings Services raised both its long-term counterparty credit rating on Banco Santander Chile (SSE: Bsantander) (Santander) to "A" from "A-," and its short-term counterparty credit rating to "A-1" from "A-2." Additionally, Standard & Poor's changed the bank outlook from positive to stable.

The upgrade was announced after Standard & Poor's decided to raise Santander Central Hispano's rating to A+.
