OVIE maestro Alfred Hitchcock filmed it with Grace Kelly amongst others in the Fifties while Michael Douglas and Gwyneth Paltrow tackled a more recent version, which all goes to show that murder does actually pay - if only at the box office.
Now former Brookside star Steven Pinder - he was Max Farnham for almost a decade in the now defunct soap - is treading the boards in a new touring production of Frederick Knott's classic thriller, Dial M for Murder.
In fact, says Pinder, it's more of a conspiracy play than a whodunnit.
