A NYLON 12 has been developed by Ube for use in automotive fuel tubing systems, bonding directly to the barrier material, and so eliminating a tie layer.
Ubesta 3030J16L has been designed for use in two two-layer systems. Ecobesta 9T combines it with Kuraray's Genestar 08010 nylon 9T and Sunbesta combines it with Asahi Glass's Fluon ETFE.
The Ecobesta 9T is for use with ethanol-containing fuels such as CE10, TF1 or higher for which the permeation rate is claimed at about half that of EVOH-containing systems and is suitable for diesel and bio-diesel because of its temperature resistance. Adhesion between layers is above 45 N/cm (180 degree peel test).
