GORDON Brown was embroiled in an Election clash with the White House last night after he was accused of being rude to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in a row that threatens Britain's special relationship with America.
Ms Rice is angry at the way the Chancellor behaved in a face-to-face showdown with her over America's objections to his plan for the world's richest nations to give an extra $100billion a year in aid to Africa.
Senior diplomatic sources say Mr Brown tried to 'browbeat' Ms Rice and completely ignored her warning that his grandiose scheme is 'unworkable'.
And she has taken revenge by telling other world powers that ...
