Apr. 18--Monaco Coach Corp. is shutting down its motor home factory in Bend and moving about 400 jobs to its Coburg campus, company officials announced Friday.
Workers at the Bend factory, which Monaco acquired from SMC Corp. in 2001, make Monaco's high-end Beaver motor homes, luxury coaches with a starting list price of $500,000.
About 400 of the 500 jobs at the Bend facility will shift to the Coburg plant, company officials said. Bend employees are being encouraged to apply for the Coburg jobs and will be offered moving assistance and bonuses, Monaco spokesman Craig Wanichek said.
