Moody's Investors Service upgraded the bank financial strength rating (BFSR) for Banco Santander Chile (SSE: Bsantander) to B-minus from C+, with a stable outlook.
Moody's had changed its rating outlook to positive in April 2002, following the announcement of a possible merger between Banco Santander Chile and Banco Santiago, in light of the analysts' expectations that the combination of Chile's two largest banks would create an entity of greatly enhanced financial strength.
