The city commission of Casselberry has formally approved a new 30 year electric utility franchise with Progress Energy Florida. Progress Energy has signed new franchise agreements with more than 28 cities and towns in Florida since 2001.

"We appreciate the hard work the commissioners put forth on behalf of their constituents," said Billy Raley, vice president of Progress Energy Florida's North Central Region that includes Casselberry. "Our negotiations resulted in an agreement that is good for everyone. It's fair, it's responsive to the city's concerns, and it's good for our customers."
