SLM Corporation , commonly known as Sallie Mae, today announced that Indiana University's (IU) Bloomington and South Bend campuses have chosen the company to be the exclusive provider of federally guaranteed and private student loans for their students, beginning with the summer session in June 2003.

IU Bloomington and IU South Bend had previously announced their plans to transition out of the Federal Direct Lending Program to the Federal Family Education Loan Program, which is administered by Sallie Mae and other private- sector providers.
