Free-agent workers, defined as temporary contract workers, freelancers, independent professionals and consultants, represent 32 percent of the state's labor force -- an estimated 1.1 million workers, according to a new survey sponsored by staffing provider Kelly Services.
A series of nationwide workforce studies sponsored by Kelly Services has profiled the free-agent worker as an autonomous, skill-driven person encompassing a variety of occupations and professions.
