Problems in the wool industry were discussed at the International Wool Textile Organisation's congress in Hobart. The conference has been attended by 520 delegates, including 270 from 22 countries outside Australia. A taskforce has recommended forming a single global wool marketing entity, and positioning wool growers so they do not compete with each other. It was also proposed that marketing be targeted at women, who influence 80% of decisions about purchases of apparel and 88% of carpet purchases.
