Govt asks 9,000 OFWs in South Korea to return
MANILA (AFP) The government has ordered some 9,000 Filipino workers in South Korea to return home before their visas expire or they will be blacklisted from ever working there again, a labor official said yesterday.
Rosalinda Baldoz, head of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), said the 9,000 workers who hold special "E9 visas" must leave South Korea before September.
The E9 visas expire in August but the workers will be given a one-month grace period to leave, she explained.
She said those who leave before September will be given a priority to return after six months ...
