MANILA, April 21 Asia Pulse - The decision of the Philippine government to adopt a four-day work-week helped promote domestic tourism, save on energy and spur economic activities in the countryside.
Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano, said "the scheme augurs well with President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's holiday economics, which had yielded positive results in the tourism industry." "Both accommodation and transport facilities in selected tourist destinations have reported an increase in their average occupancy rates, with some even reaching 100 per cent as a result of this policy," Durano said.
