Dan Hiltebeitel became aware of the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades more than 40-years ago when he was a teenager and first started working in masonry. "I would meet bricklayers who were decent, who helped you on the job, and would eat lunch with you. And it seemed like 9 out of 10 were from Williamson," remembered Hiltebeitel, director of construction technology/masonry at the Media, Pa., post-secondary school.
The school was founded in 1888 to provide opportunities for financially disadvantaged young men. To this day, all students attend on full scholarships that cover tuition, room, and board. The school is supported 60% via fund raising and 40% ...
