HOMEBUYERS were offered tax cuts worth up to [pounds sterling]2,500 in a bold move by the Tories yesterday.
Michael Howard pledged to more than double the stamp duty threshold - making four out of five house sales tax-free.
From April next year, the starting point for paying stamp duty would rise from [pounds sterling]120,000 to [pounds sterling]250,000.
The threshold for commercial property transactions would be lifted from [pounds sterling]150,000 to [pounds sterling]250,000.
