Apr. 21--Your mission, Dan, should you decide to accept it, is to "grow the market for the Florida citrus industry to enhance the economic well-being of the Florida citrus grower, citrus industry and the state of Florida."
Such is the new mission statement adopted by the Florida Citrus Commission on Wednesday after a sharp debate over the changing role of the Florida Department of Citrus since the old statement was adopted in 1993.
"I think it's really important because it tells people who we are, why we're here and what we're going to do," said Dan Gunter, the Citrus Department's executive director.
