QI BELIEVE I had relatives who lived in German Central Africa before the First World War. I've always wanted to go and discover something about them but I can't find out much about the country. Where would I have to go to?
Karl Smith, Slough AFRICAN geography has always been a bit of a poser. I remember when I was at school, at the start of every academic year, the geography teacher would get us to redraw the maps of African countries in our school atlas - and usually change their names.
Germany's historical involvement with the African continent is yet one more strange and unedifying chapter.
