Apr. 22--KILL DEVIL HILLS -- A Striped Mullet Fishery Management Plan will go out for public review without a vote by the Marine Fisheries Commission. The panel lacked the quorum needed Thursday to officially approve moving forward with the document, as it has for other fishery management plans. But commission Chairman Jimmy Johnson said it was an unnecessary step.

"In the past we've voted to send it on to public meetings," Johnson said.

"This is not anything we have to do."

Bringing the plan to the commission at this stage is a courtesy, not part of the fishery management plan process in the commission's ...
