Apr. 22--WJAC-TV in Johnstown is launching an hour-long Saturday morning newscast this week, station officials said.
"There is a need for local news, weather and community information on the weekend mornings," said Richard Schrott, WJAC's station manager. "We are preparing to fill the gap." Competitor WTAJ-TV in Altoona is wishing the Johnstown-based station well, but notes it found a Saturday morning news show didn't draw the viewers anticipated, Marty Ostrow of WTAJ said.
