Apr. 23--Local officials have spruced up the annual Spring Fling.
The April 30 event is the largest fund-raiser for Hospice and Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley. This year's version offers 1950s buffs the chance to dress up in poodle skirts and bobby socks and dance the night away at a sock hop.
For the first time, the Spring Fling has a theme: Lost in the '50s Tonight. Also for the first time, corporate donors -- 23 of them -- backed the event, so more of the proceeds will go toward caring for people with a limited life expectancy.
Last year, the fund-raiser brought in $16,000. This year's goal is ...
