Absorbing waste printer ink helps prevent clogging.(Nonwovens)

A nonwoven designed specifically as an ink-absorber for ink-jet printers has been developed in the USA.

BMP America Inc of Medina, New York, claims its system prevents ink-jet nozzles from clogging by transporting the ink and flushing or vacuuming residual ink to a waste ink absorber where it is stored throughout the life of the printer.

As disclosed in US Patent 6 809 047,the nonwoven used is a composite comprising a low density/coarse denier top layer and a high-density bottom layer of fine denier fibres.
