If you've ever wondered why electronic, media outlets fall all over themselves to target 18-49 year-olds, you're not alone. Scarborough Research also wondered about the buying power of that group, and one of its recent surveys found another, more powerful group that's not targeted by many of the electronic media.

Scarborough found that people over the age of 50 have significantly more financial assets than the younger demographics, and the 50+ age group accounts for 39 percent of the nation's adult population.
