The International Wool Textile Organisation has proposed to form a global marketing company to promote wool. This proposal was announced at the Hobart congress of the organisation, held in mid-April 2005. However, the idea was quickly abandoned when producers and processors failed to agree on the funding mechanism for the proposed organisation. Although Australian Wool Innovation promised $US5 million in funding, processors were not able to collect enough funds.
