Verizon Wireless has entered into a deal with Universal Music Group to offer ringback tones from Universal's catalog of artists. The arrangement adds some 500 new tones to the Verizon Wireless ringback tone offering, which it launched in select markets last year.
Ringback tones replace the standard ring callers hear while waiting for their call to be answered. Verizon Wireless Ringback Tones are available in a variety of musical genres including rap, hip-hop, soundtracks, metal/alternative, R&B/soul, classic rock, pop, country, oldies and more.
Verizon Wireless already offers ringback tones from Warner Music and Sony BMG artists.
