IF YOU think about it, the notion of women wanting in any way to dress like sailors is quite bizarre. Why sailors?
Why not Army officers, policemen or pilots? Yet the nautical look is a perennial favourite on the catwalk, peeping its Pugwash-esque head above the parapet every few seasons or so.
I have to admit, it's not my favourite trend - any trend that runs the risk of being taken too literally is always a worry in my line of work - but that said, there are some particularly fine spins on nautical this spring.
It's the endless tailoring opportunities presented by the pirate jacket that seem to inspire designers ...
