This may well be the year the legislature provides funding for civil legal assistance on a statewide basis.
Rep. Dudley Goodlette, R-Naples, is making expansion of state funding for the Civil Legal Assistance Act a priority in the 2005 legislative session and said the program promotes family stability by often helping families solve problems before they grow to the point where court intervention is required.
Goodlette said the act--which approves use of the state legal assistance funding for family law, assistance to victims of domestic violence, elder and child abuse, entitlement to public benefits, including veterans benefits, and immigration--has ...
