TDSAT annuls Trai order to reduce bandwidth rates.

Apr. 29--NEW DELHI -- The Telecom Dispute Settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) on Thursday set aside a Trai order reducing international bandwidth prices by up to 70 percent.
This comes as a major setback to IT-enabled service providers as they are the big users of international bandwidth. Independent Internet service providers (ISPs) are also major users of international bandwidth.
Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) had challenged Trai's order in the telecom tribunal saying that Trai's prices are below cost. The international bandwidth price order came into effect from April 1, '05. It has been scrapped retrospectively.
