Hollywood's Academy Awards Ceremony this year was a bit unusual. For starters, the ceremony took place almost a full month ahead of its usual schedule, which for years has been the end of March, and for another, it only ran 14 minutes too long. This was a bit odd to me, because I'm not used to all the changes that I saw that night, and I did find them extremely ... fascinating. For the first time in what seems forever, the Academy Awards forced me to move out of my comfort zone, and that forced me in turn to think; to make a conscious reflection about the whole ceremony and where it stands today.
