Members of Denver's teachers union Monday overwhelmingly approved a tentative contract that restores a coveted step on the salary schedule cut to save money two years ago.
The contract was passed by a 74 percent majority, with members of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association voting 1,767 for and 617 against. About 82 percent of the district's teachers cast a ballot at their individual schools.
"I'm pleased with the results, that that many individuals chose to vote, and that it was ratified by that many," said Becky Wissink, president of the association. "It wasn't a few voting, ...
