Acetates include ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, isopropyl acetate, isobutyl acetate and phenyl acetate. They are mainly used as solvents. The most important varieties are ethyl acetate and butyl acetate. According to the provisions in international clean air regulations, most coatings should have stopped using solvents with high air pollution before 2003.
