May 1--BANGALORE, India -- JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has extended a public invitation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for a dekko of the IT city's slums.
"I will salute Ms Gandhi if she directs the Manmohan Singh regime to draw up the blueprint for providing a better deal to slum dwellers not just in Bangalore or Mumbai but all over the country," he said offering to take the UPA co-ordination panel's chairperson on an eye-opening tour of a few slums so that steps could be taken to provide shelter, subsidised foodgrains, education and healthcare.
