May 4--For all the political outrage over the Grizzlies' using their no-compete clause at FedExForum to control the local concert market, this much also is true: No elected official seems inclined to take back what the Grizzlies accepted in return for the no-compete -- responsibility for annual operating deficits at the new arena.
Amid concerns over that happening, a City Council committee on Tuesday voted 5-5 against joining the county in a dispute resolution process with the Grizzlies over interpretation of the clause.
