David Donnelly Sr., a litigator for 33 years with the firm that is now Oppenheimer, Wolff and Donnelly, died Feb. 3. He was 80.
He was a fourth-generation Minnesota lawyer. His great-grandfather was Ignatius Donnelly, a 19th-century lawyer and politician, and his father, Stanislaus, was an early partner in the firm that David Donnelly joined in 1949, said his daughter, Ellen Donnelly of Belmont, Mass.
In 1942, he joined the Army Air Forces. As a bombardier in the 15th Air Force, stationed mostly in Italy, he completed 51 missions, including raids on the oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania, that crippled fuel ...
