Who wudda thunk it? What really brings out the e-mails is not news about government scandals, Timberwolves losses or Bush budgets, but a story about an apostrophe. Or the lack thereof.
More than 70 readers from around the nation who read a Star Tribune story about the good-natured disagreement over whether the University of Minnesota should name a public walkway the Scholars Walk or the Scholars' Walk chimed in. They joked and pontificated, waxed eloquent about the English language, shared judgments from grammar manuals and polled their English classes.
